  • Spring American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

    Want to become a certified Lifeguard for potential future employment? The course consists of 32 hours of training. You must pass a pre-course swim test to enroll in class.

    The pre-course swim test consists of 300 yards continuous swim (breaststroke and freestyle), timed brick recovery, and 2-minute hands-free tread.

    Program consists of cognitive knowledge and aquatic skills (water rescue skills, CPR and First Aid Training). Must score 80% or better on written tests and 100% on all water skills.

    Candidates must attend and participate in all class sessions; no make-up sessions available.

    Join Outdoor Recreation for an extraordinary hike at Devil’s Punchbowl. This is where earthquake faults collide, creating upwards jutting vertical walls as high as 300 feet. It is a spectacular setting, with the high desert spreading out on one side, and the pine covered Angeles National forest on the other. The hike takes you along the mostly shaded rim of the Punchbowl, to the dramatic Devil’s Chair, a breath taking overlook with 360 degree views of the geologic formations.

    Minimum age requirement is 8 years. Anyone under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Alcoholic beverages not permitted.
